MCI emerges from bankruptcy tomorrow with a subset of services and clients and revenue 30% lower than at it's peak. We expect MCI to begin battling to regain it's market share with creative new service offerings. Whether the "new" MCI succeeds depends on how flexible the new ownership (mostly former creditors) is to new MCI marketing ideas. If the new owners push to maintain margins in efforts to recover (at least some) bankruptcy losses, MCI with remain a shadow of its former self. If MCI leverages its new financial position (and smaller debt load) with creative service offering and lower prices, it can become a real concern to AT&T, Sprint and the ILECs entering the LD marketplace. We do indeed live in interesting times.
