ProfitLine Partners with EDI Telecommunications Billing Committee and Industry Leaders to Drive Standardization in EDI and XML
ProfitLine Contributes to the Wireless Business Model for EDI and XML Standardization

Tuesday, February 28, 2006 — ProfitLine, the premier provider of outsourced telecom lifecycle management and mobility service management, today announced its active contribution to an industry-wide effort designed to standardize aspects of EDI telecom data transmission. Together with leading telecom carriers, ProfitLine will present key input for the definition of XML data transmission standards and assist the EDI Telecommunications Billing Committee (ETB) with issuing a wireless business model for EDI at the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) annual meeting March 20-24.

ATIS brings together the best minds in the telecom industry to develop and promote standardization of current and future telecom communications and related information technologies worldwide. As a long-time member of the ATIS, ProfitLine has worked closely with telecom giants such as Verizon, AT&T and BellSouth to develop standards for telecom data transmission. ProfitLine's direct work with telecom-centric XML data models over the past several years provides critical knowledge to be shared with the committee to be used as key input for developing XML data transmission standards.

In addition to contributing to the XML schema, ProfitLine has worked over the last two years with representatives from the major carriers to assist with the development of a wireless business model that will dictate standards for EDI billing for wireless services. "This business model will provide an overview of the telecommunications industry approach for wireless service billing. The goal of creating this business model is to provide the customers and providers with a sample bill and EDI mapping presentation that depicts how certain bill type charges are presented in EDI for wireless services," said Marvin Neal, ETB co-chair. ProfitLine's recommendations played a role in the final documents, which will be presented at the March meeting with the goal of helping to further best practices across all the carriers.

"ProfitLine's involvement has been invaluable to standardizing telecom billing," said John Pautlitz, ATIS director, industry forums-OBF (Ordering and Billing Forum). "ProfitLine understands complex telecom technology, and is taking strides with ATIS to make telecom billing easier not only for its clients, but for every business telecom customer. ProfitLine's involvement will help carriers and customers come together to decide standards that guide the entire industry. It's terrific to have such seasoned telecom professionals willing to make these significant contributions."

"We're very proud that our pioneering research in XML has been able to directly help the entire telecom industry. Our involvement in organizations like the ATIS gives us unique perspective into how the carriers operate and how we can all work together to make telecom billing more accurate and more efficient," said Rick Valencia, chief executive officer of ProfitLine. "These two projects exemplify one of the reasons why our clients view us as their strategic business partner: Our involvement in industry-shaping decisions that will directly benefit them. As the industry leader, our goal is to anticipate the evolution of communications technology to enable us to ease the transition for our clients."
